The Summer’s end this year means the legendary decade and change of Carl Cox at Space Ibiza will be a thing of history. The all-smiles Techno Pioneer spoke to Mixmag about the more life-related reasons behind his departure, mainly focused on respecting his health more:

“I’m going to slow down, no doubt about it,” Cox said. “The travelling aspect is hard on my body, hard on my brain. I want to wake up in the morning and feel normal. I can’t sleep on demand in all these different time zones.

“I don’t want sleeping tablets, but I haven’t had a natural eight-hour sleep for years. I’m the consummate night owl but I can’t get back into a daytime rhythm. If I carry on I’m going to burn out. But I’m not over yet – far from it. I’ll just be doing less.”

Like Avicii, Cox is realizing that the high demand should not be met by and equally as high supply in the interest of sanity. If anything, these shows will be even more special and feature sets that will be packed with even higher quality than the already booming nights he curates.
