A little bit ago news surfaced that with the end of Space owner Pepe Rosello’s time at the club, Techno legend Carl Cox’s residency would end after a decade and a half of sets that have influenced and touched the lives of thousands. One such soul you may not have expected among the number was Dr. Dre himself. Cox recalls in an interview how his manager told him that the Compton Hip-Hop Pioneer was in the audience and wanted to say hello and Cox didn’t quite believe that he was actually in the building, come to find him in the flesh with his family, congratulating him on the night. Looking back at a special moment in his own career is a testament to the respect that exists among talented artists from diverse backgrounds…and it debunks the theory that “Nobody Listens to techno.”

“A while back my tour manager Ian tapped me on my shoulder and told me that Dr. Dre was in the house and wanted to come and say hello. I laughed at him and carried on DJing thinking it was some look-a-like trying it on. The next minute Dre is standing in the DJ booth with some of his family! He said he just wanted to shake my hand and congratulate me for such a great night and that he had been a huge fan for a long time. Dr Dre? I couldn’t get my head round that one.”
