Diplo can tweet his opinion on EDC’s Kinetic Field all he’d like, but the fact of the matter is that the main stage that causes a huge amount of anticipation every year was yet another golden standard of technological spectacle. In an interview with Forbes, Pasquale Rotella and Insomniac’s production manager Jake Berry spoke to Forbes about the details of their newest Kinetic Temple, noting the 440 foot wide and 100-foot tall structure. The LED centerpiece, abstract owls on the side, and ornately shaped light wall between them is a total of 700 tons, all with the purpose of providing the best experience it can to the 70,000+ people who come to witness the DJ sets and special shows it has to offer.

“What it takes us to build a stage today is very different than what it took us five years ago,” Rotella told FORBES during a tour of the EDC grounds. “Although we don’t live and die off spreadsheets we do need them to make sense and we are willing to make the investment to figure out how to get there.”

“I wouldn’t say we’re the most expensive festival in the world,” remarks Barry, “but I would say we’re the most advanced production festival in the world.”
