It has been 10 years since the platinum-award winning dance music producer and sound engineer, Matt Warren, has released any of his own music. During his decade-long hiatus, Warren has been producing, remixing, mastering the sounds for many of his clients. He’s won accolades for his work on the Mortal Combat movie soundtrack and three standout remixes at Warzone Recorders. While he was busy with other musician’s works, he began to urn for a project, record, and sound of his own. Being a large part of the Chicago house scene, Matt Warren’s sound encompasses the influences and sounds akin to the city of Chicago.

“This is my first release of my own music in ten years. I’ve been producing, engineering and remixing for others, but have not focused on my creative needs for a long time. I felt like I wanted to do a record that reflects my journey as both a musician and DJ. I really wanted to give that old school feel to the songs..I guess what I mean is to record “real music” with live instruments and arrangements…which are kind of a homage of all the music I grew up listening to.”  – Matt Warren

‘Music Is My Life’ is an 11-track album featuring 11 collaborators, vocalists, and musicians that Matt Warren has worked with in the past that help drive the messages and vibes found throughout ‘Music Is My Life’. Described as the first ever Nu House album, Warren expects to take the dance music industry by storm with his soulful house tracks, sultry basslines, and standout vocals. You’ll find these vibes in the album’s introduction, ‘How Do I Thee’ featuring the legendary Pepper Gomez. A sexy selection of horns carry the weight of the song as Pepper’s voice guides you through the moves and grooves. One track on the album may sound familiar. Coming in at track 8, is ‘Bang The Box’, which was a tune signed onto Matt Warren’s founded label and sold over 50,000 copies instantly in 1987. This new acid rendition of ‘Bang The Box’ is combination of a homage to the past with new world sounds.

Gone for a second and not forgotten, it looks like Matt Warren is set on making his resurgence under his own project. 2019 is wide open for a pioneer such as Matt Warren to take the center stage or dance floor ear you!
