When the time comes to create a mix for BBC Radio 2’s Essential Mix, it would be natural for any sane DJ to feel a little apprehension. When you’re a pro like Tassilo Ippenberger and Thomas Benedix of PanPot, though, the hallowed series is a walk in the park.
With a short and sweet intro from Pete Tong, the mix got rolling with a lush and melodic start. The skillful transitions the two demonstrated combined with careful track selection from beginning to end makes this an early win to start off the new year…not to mention an initiative to see these guys live for anything else they have under their sleeves.
