Mariah Carey’s newest album saw a host of influences from Dance Music; namely, her collaboration with Skrillex and Pooh bear as well as a song that directly samples Porter Robinson’s “Goodbye to a World.” Despite her courtship of these and other artists, Carey’s knowledge of popular acts faced a bit of a glitch recently. The Chainsmokers revealed in an interview that the singer mistook them for One direction of all bands.

As embarrassing as it is, at least she didn’t call their productions boring airport music. To top it off, Carey made fun of herself after the incident. Like her or not, that was a graceful way to make things right. Her newest album is a legitimate guilty pleasure, due in part to these new collaborations and samples. Check it out if you haven’t.
