Mat Zo: “If I start making Trance again, you should start worrying about my mental state”
When you start getting ready for Mat Zo’s most eclectic tour ever, you may find yourself doing some studying on the genre he’s announced he’s going to play. The electronic producer has moved through several influences and started his journey in the dance music world with Trance, releasing several tracks on Above & Beyond’s Anjunbeats label.
This past weekend he took to twitter to talk about what drove him to make so much trance music, and why it attracted him and several others to consume this kind of music:
I made all that euphoric trance stuff from a place of pure dispare, I’m in a better place in my life now

Trance attracts emotional damaged people because it has a euphoric healing quality like a stimulant. That’s why I made it

And I still like trance, just if start making it again hardcore, you should probably start worrying about my emotional state

Zo’s music has definitely taken a more lighthearted turn, with both funky and gritty tracks released on his own Mad Zoo recordings. Be sure to get to know the new Mat Zoo when he goes on tour this year.
