Trance pioneer Paul Van Dyk recently opened up about a fall he took at ASOT Utrecht that put his tour to a halt and put him in serious condition. In the chat with Billboard, he detailed the extent of the brain damage sustained, saying he even had to learn how to walk again.

I had many talks with the doctors: I had a traumatic brain injury, I broke my spine twice, I had a lot of bruising, and an open wound at the back of my head. The brain injury was and continues to be the biggest struggle of it. If you imagine that you break your spine and that’s the easy thing, then you can imagine what the last three months have been like. And what the future months to full recovery will be like.

Paul Van Dyk’s first show following recovery is coming up for this year’s EDC Vegas, and it may or may not excite you that he has new music from his latest album to play at the Dreamstate edition of Circuit Grounds. The album itself has been delayed but is now due for 2017.
