Have you ever wanted to party on a boat into the sunset while you dance to your favorite DJ’s? Wicked Delight does just that, and they’ve brought a new meaning to the term “boat party,” that’s really something else.

LA’s best pool parties and frequent collaborators, Wicked Paradise and Afternoon Delight teamed up for the third edition of their boat party, Wicked Delight at Sea, where we embarked on a day at sea in the beautiful marina of Long Beach, and as the sun set, the party started.

From the minds of L’Affaire Musicale and Ouija Entertainment comes Wicked Paradise, Los Angeles’ premiere pool party and concert hosts that have taken roots in venues like Skybar at Mondrian and The Rooftop at The Standard. Their partner, the mind behind Afternoon Delight, Adam Auburn, is known for spreading his love for house music one dance floor at a time by bringing the best music to the underground scene and named “#2 Pool Party in the US,” by Thrillist.

The Free Life Boat Party  took place on Saturday, September 17th and held close to 400 people on a spacious Catalina Cruise Line boat. The three-story boat had two stages simultaneously playing, the main sets on the deck, the second stage inside the cabin, and even an upper deck area to sit and gaze at the sunset and stars. Attendees could find themselves exploring music on all decks, grab a drink on the ship’s two bars, or even grab a snack at the taco stand on the third floor.

Amtrac and BONES

The stacked lineup included Bixel Boys, Adam Auburn, CRNKN, BONES, The Interns, Body Party, and special guests, Cassian, Amtrac, Astronomar, and Bot.

FreeLife brought the madness to the seas with continuous back to back sets and spontaneous appearances. The journey started at dock with Adam Auburn inviting us with his irresistible house music before the ship set sail. As passengers arrived, BONES took over the decks and suddenly we were moving and grooving. The night was in full celebration for BONES’ birthday as he played two back to back sets with friends, first on the deck during the sunset and later in the night inside the cabin dance floor.

BodyParty

Female DJ duo, Body Party welcomed passengers into the cabin stage as they filled the dance floor with deep sounds and engaging melodies while the sun was still shining.

As the sun went down the boat was rocking, literally as you could feel the motion of the ocean. That didn’t stop the party and neither did the darkness. The darker it got, the more lit the night became.

Bixel Boys started their set off with some classics that went into an old school style set. We had to ask ourselves if it was Thursday because of the immense amount of throwbacks. From Eric Prydz “Call On Me,” to DMX’s “Party Up” they threw every 90’s and early 2000 songs you’ve ever wanted to jam to. Nonetheless #freelife was represented in the crowd and you could spot other labels and lines that house the electronic culture like Holy Ship, OWLSA, Splash House, Night Bass, and countless other events, artists, labels, and brands.

The temperature went down but The Interns were heating up the cabin with solid electro and house vibes downstairs.

CRNKN went on to close out the night and it got crazier than ever. Feel good songs like Abba’s “Dancing Queen,” was played and countless hits that made the crowd get down on the endeavor back to the dock.

Everyone who attended was their for one reason, to have fun, and the party exceeded everyone’s highest expectations. Sailing on a boat for five hours turned strangers into friends, and what’s better than new shipmates? The atmosphere was full of energy and excitement, and everyone was on the same level all night, sea level!

We got a chance to personally speak to the Captain that said the party was taking place on “the largest capacity passenger boat,” right in the Long Beach Marina next to the Queen Mary.

Quality music, a beautiful view and location, an exciting and unique venue, and amazing vibes is curated for every boat party. To say we had fun is an understatement.
