Bang is only the beginning of Shaquille O’Neal’s catalog of Dance Music collaborations. The 47-year-old NBA legend had a chance to talk to Page Six about the rise of his musical alias DJ Diesel. For the last three years, he’s played big festivals around the world like Excision’s Bass Music weekender “Lost Lands.” Before even this, Shaq was making moves in his 20’s. “Most people don’t know it, but my [first] rap album, ‘Shaq Diesel,’ actually went platinum,” he says. “Man, that was a long time ago, and my sound has changed a lot since then.” These changes helped the founding of his own big party, Shaq’s Fun House in Miami. In its third year, the festival hosted artists like Tiesto, T-Pain, and O’Neal’s newest collaborator, Diplo. “I really look up to Diplo and Skrillex,” he said. “I’m working on some music with Diplo at the moment and would love to get in the studio with him and Skrillex soon.”

Now that the cat’s out of the bag, we know this year’s Fun House will be an insane one. The moves Shaq is making right now is helping him prove he’s serious about a career in music.

Look out for previews of this collaboration soon.
