If you haven’t already heard, Armin van Buuren has released his latest album, “Embrace.” To promote his album, ABC’s Good Morning America had a Halloween treat for everyone at Times Square by having Armin van Buuren perform “This is What it Feels Like,” (although the reporter made a mistake on the track name) and “Another You,” live with a costume filled studio audience. “Live,” we can question that, as the reporter, or reporters, according to her costume (lol), mentions Armin has been the number one dj five times, but not anymore, although how much better is Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike? It’s the usual clip of a dj with a pre-recorded set, if you even want to call that a set. Don’t forget Armin’s signature arms in the air move and encouragement to the quite young and a bit puzzled audience to dance over the microphone. It’s a very typical scene for dance music on live television, in other words, electronic music as a dj doesn’t correlate very well on live television. The audience and viewers watching from home won’t understand what Trance Family is or A State of Trance, it’s just showing a small portion of Armin’s new album, even if we’ve heard these songs for a while now… Remember when Diplo was on TV “playing” his hit track all summer, “Lean On,” same concept. It’s another story seeing a Dj live in a totally different environment and setting to where you can truly understand what they do for a living.
