Live Nation is looking deeply into joining the spike in Drive in concerts in the wake of the COVID 19 pandemic. Company CEO Michael Rapino detailed his plans to test these and crowd less shows that are broadcasted to homes.

“Whether it’s in Arkansas or a state that is safe, secure, and politically is fine to proceed in, we’re going to dabble in fanless concerts with broadcasts, we’re going to go and do reduced capacity shows because we can make the math work,” Rapino said. “There are a lot of great artists that can sell out an arena, but they’ll do 10 higher-end smaller theaters or clubs. We’re seeing lots of artists chomping to get back out once it’s safe.”

Rapino adds that the venues that will host these events largely depends on the reopening plans of states and cities worldwide. Whether they’re outdoors, in small; theaters, or in stadiums big enough to safely distance attendees is up to the opportunities that present themselves. At this time, some states are slowly beginning their first phase of reopening plans.

The CDC still recommends sheltering in place, since many cases have not declined around the country. At this time, 1.3 million people in the U.S. have been infected, with nearly 80,000 deaths.
