Tomorrowland could face a postponement from June to a later date to combat the potential resurgence of the COVID-19. Though many countries around the world may resume operations this summer, the Belgian government is still concerned for mass gatherings at that time. Belgian Internal Prime Minister Pieter De Crem said that he predicted the pandemic to peak as early as Easter, but the highly contagious disease could easily spread again at a festival like Tomorrowland.

The Belgian weekender is one of the most diverse festivals in the world, with people coming from several countries. “We need to bring more clarity to the government. But I believe from the information we have that there is a certain probability that they will have to be postponed,’ he tells local publication Le Soir. Tomorrowland has not responded to these specific claims, but released a general statement on COVID-19 below:

“We would like to call on everyone to follow their local government’s guidelines closely. Stay at home, wash your hands, and keep your distance from one another. Taking care of yourself and your loved ones is taking care of the future.
