California’s nightlife just took a huge turn! The last call for clubs and bars is at 2AM has been pushed back to 4AM!

Last call for alcohol service is known to be 2AM all around clubs and bars, but a bill pushed by California Senator Scott Wiener, has just changed the last call to 4AM!

Earlier this year Senator Wiener introduced his a campaign for his bill called “Let Our Communities Adjust Late Night Act.” The bill proposes that each municipality within the state, be given authority to choose the hour of their last call, even as late as 4AM.

“Nightlife matters a lot, culturally and economically, and it’s time to allow local communities more flexibility.” – Senator Scott Wiener

The bill has officially been passed in the Senate, “allowing, but not requiring local communities to let their bars and nightclubs serve alcohol until 4AM”.

The key words in this bill are “not requiring,” meaning, although local bars and clubs are able to have last call at 4AM, they can choose not to, allowing them to decide their own time to stop the alcohol from flowing. The passed bill will now move to Assembly for a review and a vote before reaching the governor for final word.

This is a big step for the nightlife scene. It seems like clubs and bars will be making more profit, as well as companies like Uber & Lyft. Time will only tell which municipalities will adjust their hours!

Making last call at 4 am is good because the revenue of course. Also less ppl are on the road at 4 am. Which means less accidents. I think it’s a good idea.

Stupid. People are still behind bars for selling pot, which is less harmful than alcohol. LSD or DMT(which is produced in our brains) are still illegal. But it’s convenient to change drug laws when it’s profitable. Fuck you.

I disagree. The only change will be less people on the road at 4 am to hit. Less accidents and more revenue.

More alcoholics & crime. Beware. If people were responsible, but most likely it probably won’t have good positive results.

Actually, the number one cause of death in California is cancer followed by heart disease and then, strokes. But nice try though fueling the other band wagoner’s!

Should have made it until 6am, so getting home is safer in the light.

Just another way the world is getting worse and worse. It’s bad enough alcoholics are drinking and driving at 2am. Now people have to watch out while they are trying to get to work and avoiding more and more drunks on the road.. sad sad sad sad😥🙅

If they pass this then they have to extend Muni and BART hours to fill the transit need for those staying out late. Doesn’t make sense to keep bars open late if you still reduce or end mass transit at midnight.

People that think there are less cars on the road at 4 am haven’t driven in LA at that time for awhile. 4 am is now the starting of commuters… I know, as I have been driving between 4 and 5 with five as my usual. Traffic now sucks 24/7 in LA! Even “Friday lite” rarely exists now. If this passes, there’s gonna be an increase in DUI fatal accidents!

Flexibility for bars is good for business. But the bartender should know when to cut someone off and that should be enforced alot more than it is now! If this bill passes people will be able to buy their own bottles for two more hours and possess the ability to cause more mayhem. Late night workers and early birds be ware!

I used to live in KCMO where the bars closed at 1:30 am, In the 60s we all maintained memberships in private clubs in Kansas City, Kansas where we could continue to drink ALL night. This made a lot of traffic traveling to the Kansas side. Traveling back to the MO side traffic was lighter because people left the clubs a different times. All in all I think this bill is a bad idea. What if Sacramento adopts the later drinking hours and the suburban cities do not. That means a lot more drinkers traveling into the Sactown.

Cities already regulate the hours of alcohol service now. They are free (as many do) to set the hours of service up to 2 AM. So, the headline is a bit misleading.
