The incredible privilege of having the life of a DJ as your career is enjoyed by many, but the journey to get there is more jagged than someone in our shoes may assume. To chronicle the journey, Ali Shirazinia (AKA Dubfire) has a documentary cleverly titled “Above Ground Level” waiting in the wings to premiere at Miami Music Week. The film discusses Shirazinia’s personal journey to his own plateau and features interviews with Paul Oakenfold, Chris Liebing, Nervo, and a heaping helping more artists about what this life is like.

More pressing of an issue for this film to address, though, is the importance of conscious thought concerning immigration into America, a country Shirazinia calls home. He tells Inc.:

“For obvious reasons, I share the current wave of outrage aimed at the current administration’s recent so-called ‘Muslim travel ban.’ There is no factual evidence to support the claim that people from those seven countries have been, or are, a threat to America’s security…I am an American citizen, but at the same time I can relate to having to escape your home country due to political conflict and being forced to begin again in a foreign land. Americans should remember that they are all descendants of immigrants. That is what has always made America so special and powerful.”

Judging by the commentary above and the trailer below, this ought to be a film you should try to check it if you’re in Miami for the premiere.
