Looking back, some still sorely miss the smaller massive vibe that EDC at the Memorial Coliseum brought. Traveling a few miles east wasn’t a bad idea for Insomniac, though, both in terms of the world recognition and the economic impact on the city. Every year there is a report that documents the exact figures that go to Las Vegas as a result of EDC, and collectively the city has earned $1.3 Billion from all five years, with over three thousand jobs created and $141.3 million in labor income earned. The strange cognitive dissonance between this country’s stigma towards festivals for electronic music and the community’s benefits doesn’t quite make sense now, but as time goes on, hopefully the communal impact is understood and respected.
