Electric Zoo, the three-day electronic music festival that occurred on Labor Day from September 2nd to the 4th at New York’s Randall’s Island was targeted by thieves.

Unfortunately, police reported that $6,000 was stolen in property from at least eleven festival attendees. Victims were pick-pocketed, assaulted, and left with none of their belongings. In one instance, on September 3rd at around 1:30 AM, a 19 -year-old woman noticed a man digging in her purse located nearby as she was dancing. The man hit her on the arm and fled the scene when confronted by her, the thief ran way with $1,170 of personal belongings including an iPhone, several bank cards, and $20 in cash. The suspect was described as a 25-year-old male, 5-foot-8.

In another instance, a 25-year-old woman was attacked at the Triborough Bridge after leaving the festival when the suspect told her “Give me what you have” before throwing her to the ground and removing 180 dollars in cash and the victim’s cell phone. The man was described as about 45 years old, 5-foot-8 and 180 pounds.

Sadly, this happens more often than one thinks, so next time your at any event, keep an eye on your personal belongings and look out for one another.
