Of all the things to worry about before a festival, the last thing you want to get hit with is a hefty fine. Not only is the UK’s Glastonbury festival facing a fine of roughly $45,000 for damages done to the environment.

This next part may not be best to read for those squeamish folks: the fine comes from this UK event’s responsibility for the leakage of thousands of gallons of human waste into the sea, killing several fish. For this year’s show, the Environment Agency is hoping to see more work on Glastonbury’s part to keep this situation under control.

“I think it was a bit of a waste of time, to be honest with you. It wasn’t that serious a crime really. We did our very, very best when we found the leak – we really did all that we should have done within the timescale.

“This wasn’t really necessary,” said Eavis. “We should have been doing something else. We’re putting together the biggest show in the world in four weeks’ time.”
