The vast and simple stretch of the Empire Polo Fields gives “memories and suntans,” according to Michael Bracken, who serves as managing partner and chief economist of Development Management Group. In exchange for those two invaluable things that come in the form of Coachella and Stagecoach, it seems those two things yield a load of profit that goes back into the city: $704 million, to be exact.

$400 million of that funnels into local businesses into the Coachella Valley, which is almost triple the total spent by festival goers in 2012 when a similar study was conducted. The expansion can only continue from here, with the green light hovering in front of Goldenvoice to host an additional two weekends of festivities in the Polo Fields to do whatever festival idea they conclude on.
