Don’t let the headline dishearten you too much; yes, a huge stop for dance music in the Bay Area, Ruby Skye, is closing its doors. But it’s replacement, the August Hall (working title), will be providing some dance music as part of their programming as well.

The new venue, headed by a man named Nate Valentine, will be combining the nightclub space with the previously detached Slide Lounge space. Currently, people have to exit the building in order to get from one venue to another. In terms of what will fill the hall, he tells local publication Hoodline the programming will consist of “50 percent EDM/DJ nights, 45 percent rock bands and other live music, and a handful of comedy shows.” There is also a plan to turn the bottom half of the building into a three-lane bowling alley with sports bar atmosphere.

Valentine is partnering with Snowball Ventures, the company responsible for SnowGlobe festival in Lake Tahoe. With this in mind, we should expect to see some artists who would fit that lineup in the newly imagined space.
