It’s sad to announce that the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena is closing after nearly 57 long and memorable years. For the electronic community, it symbolizes an era. The Arena takes us back to when Together As One presented Armin Van Buuren’s Armin Only Imagine Tour. Before Escape and HARD Day of the Dead there was one Halloween festival that ruled them all and became America’s first major Halloween massive, we’re talking about the well-respected Monster Massive. Daft Punk’s Alive Tour also made a historic stop at the LA Sports Arena back in 2007 after they debuted the legendary pyramid at Coachella 2006.

Not only did the Arena hold a place in hearts of electronic fans but others who delved into genres that FYF Fest held over the last couple years and most recently, Disclosure, back in September. Besides music, the Arena was known for sports where the Lakers called it their home before the Forum was built, and then the Clippers new home. Politics even came into play at the Sports Arena. The future for the Arena is a $250 million soccer stadium, a museum, restaurants, a retail office, and an office space. Could see festivals be thrown inside the new soccer stadium? Only time will tell.

“The projects is expected to create thousands of jobs and generate almost $130 million annually from stadium operations.”

Demolition starts next month and construction for the new stadium is expected to be completed by March 2018. What do you think of this major change?
