Get ready for the end of an era. Newport’s most popular bastion of big beats and bottle service is closing its doors for good. Sutra, a place thousands of OC’s poshest (and drunkest) club rats have called home for many years, is ending its 13 year run at Triangle Square with a weekend-long lineup of parties that started last night with a set from Bass Jackers and will continue tonight with a set from Steve Wright and end on Saturday with Sander Van Doorn.

For the last 13 years, Sutra has been one of the most infamous spots for anyone looking to late night party in the OC. We remember seeing Gareth Emery, Markus Schulz, Armin van Burren, and even Above & Beyond there back in 2011 for literally $28. The massive club isn’t going down quietly, though, as they’re bringing some heavy talent (see above) to close out the club. There is also a bit of good news with the announcement as Irvine-based company Identity MG, are planning to open a new spot called Time Nightclub, which is reportedly located just downstairs of Sutra with a much bigger space and with more details to be announced: “very soon.”. If Time is half as fun as Sutra was, then sign us up for another 13 years of good times.
