Building off the momentum of two enormously successful Digital Mirage festivals, Los Angeles based independent electronic music brands Proximity and Brownies & Lemonade announced today that they will be returning to the virtual festival community with a Thanksgiving-themed third iteration, Digital Mirage Friendsgiving.
With 10 million playbacks and 5 million live viewers between two editions – Digital Mirage has become a beacon of hope for dance music fans in the wake of shutdowns and has established itself as a stable for the industry. Whether it’s providing a massive platform for artists and their exclusive music or raising funds and awareness for key issues affecting the community, Digital Mirage brings something special to a crowded live stream arena.
Slated for November 27-28, Digital Mirage Friendsgiving will bring festival-worthy content into people’s homes worldwide with exclusive sets from headliners like ‘beat’ scene phenomenon The Glitch Mob, “the godfather of dance music” Tiesto, highly anticipated b2b set from industry giants ZHU and NGHTMRE, and a marquee set by Louis the Child, replacing their annual Thanksgiving show in Chicago that raises money for charity. Tchami and Dr. Fresch link for an extraordinary performance from a very cinematic location, a rare set from Future Classic’s taste-maker Wave Racer, trap maestro Yehme2, Australian powerhouse producer, DJ, and label head Nina Las Vegas, and FEMMEHOUSE bosslady LP Giobbi.
Digital Mirage Friendsgiving will provide fans with more access to the event by streaming through different platforms including YouTube, Twitch, Playstation Network, andriodTV, VK, and artists’ Facebook accounts with the goal of spreading their message of connectivity and solidarity even further.
In the spirit of giving, all proceeds from Digital Mirage Friendsgiving will be both donated to National Independent Venue Association (NIVA)’s Save Our Stages Emergency Relief Fund and the performing artists, which will be collected by Plus1’s Fund for COVID-19 Relief. The festival, completely free of charge, generates funds through participant donations.
At the start of the COVID-19 shelter-in-place order, Digital Mirage was one of the driving forces to propel the music industry. For their first edition in April 2020, they garnered over 1.1 million attendees, $300,000 in donations for Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, and 4.1 million overall playbacks. Expanding upon their vision, Digital Mirage 2.0 featured 58 of some dance music’s most in-demand artists. Originally scheduled for June 5-7, Digital Mirage 2.0 was postponed by a week in support of the Black Lives Matter movement and donations generated by the event were allocated to Equal Justice Initiative and Color of Change.
As pioneers within the virtual event landscape, Brownies & Lemonade, Proximity, and Keel represent the next wave in music entrepreneurs aimed to foster the future of the global music industry.
