SnowGlobe may have to wait an extra year or two to celebrate its 10th anniversary. Because of a breach of their 5-year contract signed in 2019, the city of Lake Tahoe decided last week not to let the 2021 iteration go forward this New Year’s Eve. It may be canceled permanently.

Promoters received a letter asking them to choose a new venue after their 2020 event was rescheduled due to the pandemic. The Tahoe Daily Tribune reports that several alternative venues were presented: Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, Lake Tahoe Golf Course, George Whittell High School and surrounding area, multiple casino parking lots, and Camp Richardson. The promoters not only decided against hosting the event at those locations, but failed to attend the council meeting to defend their event before the final vote to end the contract.

Several individuals who live in the area—including a good amount of people who commented on the article in question- seem happier than not about the news, citing noise issues and unruly attendees in the area during the event.
