The Governor of California Gavin Newsom has issued new guidelines that recommend all gatherings of more than 250 people be canceled or postponed until at least the end of March. That including all upcoming EDM festivals, concerts, events, and club shows. Now, at this moment the cancelation of large events isn’t mandatory, but the State of California are using new guidelines to mark a new phase in the state’s effort to contain the COVID-19 virus.

We’ll have to wait and see what the official promoters decide to do with their events for the month of March.

“Changing our actions for a short period of time will save the life of one or more people you know,” Newsom said in the statement. “That’s the choice before us. Each of us has extraordinary power to slow the spread of this disease. Not holding that concert or community event can have cascading effects — saving dozens of lives and preserving critical health care resources that your family may need a month from now. The people in our lives who are most at risk — seniors and those with underlying health conditions — are depending on all of us to make the right choice.”

President Trump declared on Wednesday the United States will suspend travel from Europe for 30 days as part of the response to ‘foreign’ coronavirus, which means a ton European DJs won’t be able to make it to their upcoming gigs in Miami, Southern California, New York, and more till Mid-April.

The state’s public health experts said that gatherings should be postponed or canceled across the state until at least the end of March. They further recommended that non-essential gatherings should be limited to no more than 250 people, while stating that smaller events could continue if the organizers were able to implement social distancing of 6 feet per person.

The California Department of Public Health finds the following:

  • Large gatherings that include 250 people or more should be postponed or canceled.
  •  This includes gatherings such as concerts, conferences, and professional, college, and
    school sporting events.
  • Smaller gatherings held in venues that do not allow social distancing of six feet per person
    should be postponed or canceled.
  •  This includes gatherings in crowded auditoriums, rooms or other venues.
  • Gatherings of individuals who are at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19 should be
limited to no more than 10 people.
  •  This includes gatherings such as those at retirement facilities, assisted living facilities,
developmental homes, and support groups for people with health conditions.
  • A “gathering” is any event or convening that brings together people in a single room or single
space at the same time, such as an auditorium, stadium, arena, large conference room,
meeting hall, cafeteria, or any other indoor or outdoor space.
