Planet Her by Doja Cat became one of the most commercially successful 2020s-era albums released by an American musician. The Platinum-certified project spent over 40 weeks in the Billboard 200’s Top 10 region.

Five singles from Planet Her broke into the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In addition, Doja Cat’s “Kiss Me More” featuring SZA rose to #3 on the Hot 100 and collected a 4x-Platinum plaque from the RIAA. Now you may ask, what’s next for the artist? Where does Doja go from here?

Doja Cat is joining Drake and Beyoncé in creating a Dance Music inspired album. In an interview with CR Fashion Magazine, she expressed that the musical influence will come from German rave music in the 90s. “I know [dance music] is kind of the trend at the moment, but I loved that stuff as a kid,” Doja tells the magazine. “Now that I can express it (obviously, I couldn’t buzz my head and wear a furry bra and have a belly button piercing back then), I’m sort of embracing that.”

She makes it clear that there won’t just be House on the album, but a representation of a variety of genres that circulated at that time. Be it Techno, Breakbeats, Hard House, Trance, Drum n’ Bass, or beyond, it’s going to be exciting to see what producers she may collaborate with to make this album fit the vibes she says it’s going to channel.
