Anjunadeep welcome luminary UK producer Joseph Ray for his label debut with ‘Room 1.5 / Chem-EX’. A Grammy Award-winning member of electronic trio NERO, Ray’s career has seen him top the UK Albums Charts and collaborate with acts such as Muse, Chase & Status and Skrillex.

Ray’s latest release pairs his love of early jungle with modern warehouse techno, creating a completely unique sound that features atmospheric builds reminiscent of Jon Hopkins, and eye-widening climaxes comparable to Dense & Pika, Adam Beyer, and Charlotte De Witte.

A highlight when dropped by James Grant & Jody Wisternoff at Anjunadeep events over the past six months, ‘Room 1.5’ demonstrates Ray’s penchant for unrelenting nostalgic club productions: “Room 1.5 was inspired by my days listening to jungle… fuzzy memories from the London nights when I got into dance music. Those sounds and atmospheres have never really left me and this is my homage to them.”

B-side ‘Chem-EX’ takes on a more melodic approach, pairing cavernous drones with light arpeggios. Of the track, Ray explains, “Chem-EX started as a short jam on the Prophet synth, but gradually developed into an extended sci-fi journey through a long descending bass pattern and multiple-layered arp.”
