A 23-year-old man named Tamim Jamaal Nozhat was arrested in Canberra for allegedly importing 356 kilograms of ecstasy. He attempted to sneak the obscene amount of drugs in buckets meant for chlorine and was officially taken into custody in Sydney on December 5th. The amount of chlorine totaled $40.5 million dollars in value and was enough to make 1.2 million pills. The drugs were addressed to Wholesale Pool Supplies, a company registered under Nozhat’s name.

Nozhat appeared in the Magistrates Court of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), charged with “importing a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug.” Nozhat has been denied bail due to the risk of him fleeing the country.

ACT Policing deputy chief police officer commander Mark Walters said: “In terms of drugs that were directly related to the ACT this is the most significant drug seizure.”
