Coachella weekend two started on a more somber note than not for several people who attended with the passing of Avicii. As a figure who released several songs that inspired artists to make music and drove the Dance Music Scene to the prominence it sees today, the news of his early passing left nearly the entire community lost for words.
Several artists made a change in their performances to pay tribute to the late producer as well as share their memories with him. Alison Wonderland dropped Aviciiās first smash hit āLevelsā before giving a heartfelt thank you to his work on the scene. Black Coffee put a short clip of he and Avicii having a conversation about working together before playing his first genre-bending tune, Wake Me Up, at the end of his set.
Beyond Coachella, tributes from bands and artists echoed from around the world; namely live performances of āWake Me Upā from One Republicās Ryan Tedder and Nick Jonas. The fact that well-respected musicians are passionate enough about his music to perform it on the spot during their performances shows how talented a musician he is.
Whatever your thoughts were on his music or how his success changed the EDM world, thereās a lot of objective good heās done for thousands of individuals who needed a song or a set to keep them pushing on in their own lives. Itās for that reason that we celebrate his catalog today.
You can find Aviciiās music on your streaming platform of choice.
