Global Dance Festival (no relation) was forced to cancel their event on Saturday due to weather conditions. The damage to production by the severe thunderstorms damaged the production beyond repair. The festival was set to host Excision and Illenium’s debut back to back set, but was unable to do so thanks to the sudden change in plans. This did not sit well with a large number of attendees, who took it to themselves to push down the barriers and raid the festival grounds. Worse still, several of them looted a bar and stole over $4,000 worth of beer and beverages.
The global dance site and production has suffered significant damage due to the weather. We are currently assessing the situation.

To add insult to injury, the proceeds from these sales were to go to Denver’s local dog rescue, DMK (http://dmkrehoming.com/donate). There’s no way the thieving attendees could have known this, but it doesn’t excuse them from breaking into a show and taking whatever they can find behind the bar.
“It was unbelievable. There were just people just handing them out,” said Jerry English, a volunteer who was working the beer stand. “Then you have one guy that runs to the guy, grabs a beer, and then he gets offered another one, and he says, ‘No, I’m not greedy.’ I mean, you’re stealing — what’s going on?”
English was volunteering with DMK Rehoming , a nonprofit that works to rescue dogs on the verge being euthanized. One of their primary ways to raise money is by selling beer at local events. This past weekend his group volunteered to operate the beer concessions at the Global Dance Festival that was taking place at Mile High Stadium.
Refunds will be issued to those who purchased their tickets for Saturday and 2 day pass holders. Excision and Illenium spent the time they would have spent performing in the studio, meaning we could be in store for even more great music from the two.
Some attendees are making themselves at home after pushing down barriers at @GlobalDanceFest, and entering the site during continued severe weather delays. 🤦♂️🤦♀️ | 📹: @NickPyle15 pic.twitter.com/DdGJT7R896

FYI — This cart (and 4 others that were cleaned out of $4500+ of product) were being run by a local CO nonprofit dog rescue, @DMKRehoming. For the BENEFIT of the rescue, not the festival. If you would like to donate to help recoup some losses you can here. https://t.co/GX15CbtBol
