Miami is taking a big step towards bringing back pre-COVID nightlife by doing away with its 8 PM curfew in the city, according to a local news report. Liquor stores and beach clubs in the city will now be allowed to stay open past midnight and serve alcohol past 8 PM.

After Tootsies’ strip club won a court appeal, the court determined that this curfew was in conflict with Governor Ron DeSantis’ emergency orders. Clubs will be able to operate until 5AM. The establishments will still need to enforce social distancing and face-covering measures.

“Our public health experts are predicting a rise in cases and a potential spike by mid-November, which is why everyone must take special care to follow the safety rules,” says Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez. “I am asking our residents and business owners to keep your guard up and diligently follow the County’s safety rules to protect our community during this pandemic. Please, continue to do your part to save lives.”
