Musical artist Rezz has gained an intense following since the release of her debut EP, Insurrection, in 2015. The Canadian-born artist is known for her spiral LED glasses and her loyal fan base. Her momentum has gained in the past 3 years, and in 2018 she has been making the festival rounds, appearing on major lineups such as Coachella and Electric Forest. Her last album release was her debut studio album, Mass Manipulation, in 2017. She is slated to release her second studio album, Certain Kind of Magic, on August 3, 2018. In the meantime, she has been dropping singles from Certain Kind of Magic on listening platforms such as Soundcloud and Spotify. Rezz-heads have been waiting in anticipation.

On June 17th, Rezz tweeted that she was going to make a song specifically inspired by and for Electric Forest that holds true to the vibes of the festival. She stated it was going to be played at Forest for the first time and released to the general public a few days before.

For those of us not lucky enough to be there for weekend 2 of the magic, the long-awaited hour came at 9pm EST, which was midnight at the Forest in Michigan. Although her set isn’t until July 1st, when she’ll play it live, Rezz tweeted her new single, “Hex”, on June 28th (or 29th, depending on what time zone you were in). The song is true to Rezz’s fashion, with unique drops that you can imagine being anywhere listening to and enjoying. This single is different though. The sounds she uses in the beginning and throughout the track are ones that allow you to feel the Forest. If you close your eyes, you can almost imagine being at the Sherwood Court stage with her. The Cult of Rezz is sure to love their Space Mom’s new release, and this gift to those at Forest will make for an even better set on Sunday.
