Sad, but not completely unexpected news. Coachella and Stagecoach, two of California’s biggest festivals that usually take over three weekends of April, are canceled for 2021. The festivals, which bring hundreds of thousands of people to Indio, CA every year, will have to wait.

Whispers of whether Goldenvoice would cancel or postpone their biggest events were starting to surface. With only a few months until April, vaccines coming out, and festivals being pushed to the fall, everyone was speculating whether they would move it to October the way they tried to last year or cancel it altogether.

On Friday, January 29th, we got our answer. The Riverside County Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser signed an order canceled all April, citing the one and only COVID-19 as the fault. While no statement has been released from the festivals yet, we can only assume that those are going to get sent out soon. This is usually around the time their line ups drop, so this is a much sadder and much less anticipated announcement. At this rate, whether we’ll be able to gather in the fall is uncertain, although Dr. Fauci has tried to give us some hope.

It is better to be safe than sorry in this kind of a situation, but always sad when another festival becomes a corona casualty.
