“All right Countdown, if you are ready for 2018, make some noise, then sit down, then put your hands up!” …is definitely not what Deadmau5 would have said or done for his midnight performance at Insomniac’s Countdown.
As a matter of fact, he got someone more qualified in speaking to do the speaking. around a minute before the new year, voice actor Justin Rolland did his famous portrayal of Rick and Morty for a custom countdown. Rick did his best to disable a bomb allegedly armed by the “shithead mouse character” they describe. The actual countdown was followed by a purposefully lackluster confetti drop and anticlimactic realization that it was 2018 from the two characters, who exited the scene so deadmau5 could play his track “Legendary” and keep the party going until close.
