Without a shadow of a doubt, the newer sound of house music was a force in the first half, with classics from Jauz and Ephwurd among others that blended harder dubstep synths with a sexy rhythm. Anthems of the year also came through, with originals from Major Lazer and Calvin Harris that have been stuck in your head since their respective weeks of release. And of course, the more upfront big room sound you always hear from Luke is prevalent as the mix gets more energetic, and it gets its airtime because it’s a sound that he believes in through and through.
