An ongoing project since 2010, RUN DMT (real name John Robbins) has been riding the bass music wave producing every sub niche from moombahton, drum & bass, dubstep, hip-hop, trap, the list is endless really. We haven’t seen a release from the project since 2014 due to other ongoing projects such as artist network ‘Kill You Ego’ and his other psychedelic side project, PPLRPSN. He produced an album in the winter of 2016 under PPLRPSN under Gravitas Recordings and curated a second drum & bass side project, Sobo, that was immediately signed onto the legendary Bachelors of Science’s CODE Recordings imprint. So although things have been quiet on the RUN DMT project, John has been anything but that.

‘Analogue Noir’ is the lead single and first release off of RUN DMT’s forthcoming album, Revolutionaire, which is set to be out on Monday, August 14th, 2017. Full of energy and bass, ‘Analogue Noir’ brings vibrant funk and a saxophone melody to accompany a rather dirty bassline and endless trills. Labeled as galactic jazz on Soundcloud, this single will have you all very excited for the rest of album.

A couple noteworthy tunes off ‘Revolutionaire’ include ‘Voodou’ that features Jacq Knat Turner and Zeale. Zeale opens the song with her soothing voice over a desolate melody, followed by Jacq and Knat Turner, who adds his own touch to make the track a bit more sinister, before ‘Voodou’ unleashes a ferocious bassline and reveals a full-blown dubstep banger. ‘Rhythm Runners’ is a very special track that includes Reggae superstar, Barrington Levy. Run the riddim, and let the ‘Rhythm Runners’ guide you through a classic sounding US dubstep production with shrilling synthesizers and hip skanking basslines.

It’s safe to say that RUN DMT has not been out of touch with the vision and direction of this music project.
