Now that Dirtybird has grown into a powerful force to be reckoned with, its fearless leader, Barclay Crenshaw aka Claude VonStroke, can start to step a little bit outside of that spotlight and into another world of music that he is passionate about. In the wee hours of an October morning deep in a Southern California mountain valley, a bespectacled sonic explorer took to the stage in front of several thousand people. Flitting among hip-hop, broken beats, acid-trip bass and jungle influences, Barclay Crenshaw introduced fans to the musical palette that has come to inspire his forthcoming self-titled album.
Crenshaw is gearing up to release an album of hip-hop beats, and the appetizer to that is his first ever mixtape “Transmission 001.” Featuring music from DJ Shadow and Salva as well as Remixes and originals from the man himself, this oughta wet your appetite for his stop at low-end theoretical January 25.
