Last year, we got the upsetting news from Diplo that the next Major Lazer album was going to be their last. We prepared for 2019 to be a year where we said goodbye to the musical trio.

In 2019, Diplo hit us with another announcement, although this one was slight more cryptic: he announced that there was a collaboration on the horizon.

“We got something very big planned for 2019,” he said, after which he tagged J Balvin and Major Lazer. He did not indicate when, so no one knew whether it would be released as a single or on their final album alone.

This came at the end of 2018. Now, as Summer 19′ closes out, and people may or may not have forgotten about this announcement, we got a follow up with a date. Their single, “Que Calor,” is coming out on Wednesday, September 11.

Diplo made the announcement on his Instagram with one extra artist to join the the song that was not there before: El Alfa. For those who may not be familiar with ‘El Jefe’, he is a Dominican dembow recording artist that has dropped countless dance floor bangers across Latin America and most notably was featured on Bad Bunny’s ‘La Romana’. He has worked with such artists as Nicky Jam, Anuel AA, and Cardi B so this collab will be nothing short of amazing.

The song was supposed to be a summer release, but who is being picky when we’re getting a new track to listen to with such awesome artists?

“Que calor” translates to “what heat,” so we can’t wait to hear the fire track they give us. Are you excited for this collaboration?
