Grant Kwiecinski AKA GRiZ’s Bangers[2].zip keeps the momentum of his last release of the same name going with flair. With art of a scorpion and some real trippy saturated graphics behind it, this three track EP is an exciting addition to Zed’s Dead’s label catalog. The Deadbeats release starts with a fun skit: GriZ calling his collaborator Subrtonics to let him know that the call itself is the final task of the track. After the producer on the other line understands that the call will be recorded and pasted right at the start of Griztronics, the surprise in his voice makes for a nice laugh before the face melting production comes into play.

The collab is a great way to kick off, fusing funky musicality with gritty instrumentation. To follow things up, Freak the Method calls two powerful elements of Kwiecinski’s musical arsenal into play: his own vocals and a guitar from his live shows. The track has a unique vibe to the other two, making it a nice track to balance the whole package out. The EP ends on an energetic note with Push the Vibe, with a host of hype-building vocal samples manipulated to great effect and an unmistakeable bassline that we cant wait to feel ourselves when the man himself swings by the Hollywood Palladium on Octiber 24th.

This weekend starts Griz’s pathway to that show by way of his Ride Waves Season Two tour with a set at 515 Alive Music Festival in Des Moines, IA. He plans on scaling several cities with 24 shows total, emding his journey through the country in Berkeley’s Greek Theater on October 26th.
