The music world and the sports world are large, and sometimes, they unexpectedly intersect. Sometimes, famous retired basketball players become DJs (Shaquille O’Neal). Other times, famous retired football players put on a music festival.

Rob Gronkowski, the former tight end for the New England Patriots, recently announced his retirement in March 2019. The 30-year-old cited mental and physical health reasons as to why he was no longer continuing the game, closing a record-setting career in which he is known by many as one of the best tight ends to ever play the game.

Patriots fans and non-Patriots fans alike probably thought that this was the last they would hear from Gronkowski for a bit. They were wrong. Gronk has decided to put on a music festival in none other than Miami, Florida.

The festival, which will take place during Super Bowl weekend – of course – is a one day festival on February 1, 2020. The 2020 Super Bowl is February 2, 2020, and is taking place in Miami at the Hard Rock Stadium. This festival, called Gronk Beach, is essentially a pre-party to one of the biggest sports days of the year in the United States.

Gronk Beach is staking the claim to being, “the championship of partying – a music festival tribute to one of the all-time greats.” Their lineup includes Kaskade, Flo Rida, 3LAU, Carnage, Rick Ross, and Diplo. The festival will run from 1-7 pm at North Beach Bandshell and Beach and is open bar. This is going to be something.
