The U.S. Marshall’s office is re-appropriating the merchandise intended for Billy McFarland and Ja Rule’s trainwreck event, Fyre fest. The office seized $26 million in official clothing and accessories that people may have worn proudly in public, had circumstances been different.

In an official release, U.S. Marshall Ralph Sozio details that McFarland intended “to sell the items and use the funds to commit further criminal acts while he was on pre-trial release.” McFarland had defrauded over 80 investors in Fyre Media Inc and was jailed for his crimes. He will serve time in prison until 2023. “The proceeds from the sale of these items, all traceable to McFarland’s $26 million fraud, will go toward the victims of his crimes,” the release reads. Several items that started around typical merch costs are already above bidding in the hundreds; a Fyre festival medallion started at $5 but is not nearing $200 with the latest bid. Auctions will continue for two days as it will officially end on Thursday, August 13th.
