The Dance bug has successfully bitten the xx, who made headlines with their first album in 5 years, ā€œI See You.ā€ Directly following the album came another bombshell: the group revealed that they have a whole other assortment of electronic songs they madeā€¦and itā€™s almost ready to fire off to the public. ā€œWeā€™ve loved having more upbeat music in our set,ā€ says Romy Madley Croft in an interview with The Courier.

ā€œWeā€™ve got plans to release our techno tunesā€¦ Weā€™ve loved having more upbeat music in our set. Weā€™ve remixed ourselves, thereā€™s some older songs that we now play at 120 bpmā€¦ People probably assume that Jamie brought the injection of dance music to the last album but in a way itā€™s funny because Oliver and I were inspired by what he was doing and when he got back he was actually the one who wanted to come in and slow it down.ā€ She continued, ā€œItā€™s a nice change to be able to make people dance at The xxā€™s shows and to see that range of emotions.ā€

With Jamie xxā€™s highly successful In Colour album, many could say they easily predicted this coming. Despite that, Croft talks about her and Oliver Sim were equally interested in the project, even remarking that they even remixed themselves by speeding their live songs to 120BPM. ā€œPeople probably assume that Jamie brought the injection of dance music to the last album but in a way itā€™s funny because Oliver and I were inspired by what he was doing and when he got back he was actually the one who wanted to come in and slow it down.ā€ With her own skills in Logic Pro building to match her bandmates, we donā€™t expect this to be the last techno outing for the xx, and we canā€™t wait to hear the final product.
