Some great news for all Hardwell fans: the producer is ending his four-year hiatus to close out Ultra Music Festival, according to a source for Billboard. It’s hard to see this not being the case, as a name between the G and I on the lineup is blurred out.

When the Dutch artist announced a hiatus for his own mental health, he left behind a broad catalog of music that helped found a lot of the sound we hear in festivals today. Though he’s been absent from touring, he still curated music through his Hardwell on Air show up until the start of 2021. These episodes (as well as his Off the Record offshoot of the show) give us an idea of the kind of music he’s into these days.

Sources say Hardwell will debut new music at this year’s festival, and that his new sound is a departure — or evolution — from his previous, commercially focused work. Hardwell’s friend and fellow Dutch DJ, Laidback Luke, told Billboard in October that he had heard some of the new music, saying he was “so proud of him, and his new album is going to be incredible.” (Knaup would not comment on the new music.)

We can’t wait to see him (or whomever the other DJ’s name that happens to start with an H) takes the stage at Ultra and screws off the lid on this resurgent Miami Music Week.
